![]() ![]() I didn’t say anything and handed the watch back to him and said “nice Rolex”. I noticed immediately that it was rather good fake of the 16570 Explorer II. I can tell from the 5-digits with 100% certainty without opening the caseback. The guy didn’t know I had been buying and selling preowned Rolexes for years. I asked to see it and he handed it over to me. I was once in a party and a young guy was boasting about his Rolex. What’s wrong with that? Why would that bother other people? Why would you care what other people like to wear on their wrists? I guarantee you, they don’t care about your Rolex, either. You purchase an Invicta Sub because you’ve always dreamed of buying the Rolex Sub but you can’t afford it right now. Invicta competitors are Seiko, Orient and other cheaper brands. Invicta is NOT an alternative to a Rolex. Personally, I’m 100% sure that Rolex sells MORE watches because of these homages, not less. Or maybe homage owners are seen as “wannabees”? A bit like people who would stick a M3 badge and fake pipes on their BMW 318i? But why people get angry about it? Before getting emotional on behalf of a corporate pig like Rolex, shouldn’t we save the rain forests and whales first? Do they honestly worry about the finances of Rolex? A company that has manipulated their customers to believe that it’s almost a “privilege” to be able to buy an overpriced watch from their authorized dealer (after being placed into a queue for several years). Yes, when it comes to design they definitely ARE ripoffs. They refuse to call them homages, they call them “knockoffs” or “ripoffs” and place them almost on the same level with the fakes. Both brands rip off the design of their beloved Rolex. These people don’t take brands like Alpha and Invicta lightly. You’re wearing an icon on your wrist, right? Some people feel that when they have spent several thousand Euros on a Rolex watch they become “a bit better people”. If you asked from a person who doesn’t know anything about watches he’d say the left (130€) one looks more expensive. The two watches in the title picture cost about €130 and €6500 (in the preowned market). Let’s review something controversial and shady… something that watch enthusiasts have always looked down their noses at… the “homages”. Who wants to read another review of a Rolex Sub, Breitling Navitimer or Omega Speedy? We’ve seen enough of them. ![]()
